-An Internet for all mankind -The galaxy brain has spoken -No, Toto, don't pull back the curtain on censorship! -Information control with Chinese characteristics! -Good journalists tell good stories!

Xi Jinping called for letting the internet better benefit people of all countries when he addressed the opening ceremony of the 2023 World Internet Conference, the Wuzhen Summit, via video. Xi said that the vision of jointly building a community with a shared future in cyberspace, which he proposed in 2015 has garnered widespread international recognition and positive responses. The vision answers the questions of our times related to resolving the development deficit, addressing security challenges, and enhancing mutual learning between civilizations, Xi said.

Under Xi’s wise and gentle guidance, the internet will blossom like flowers in front of the red-flag bedecked Great Hall, new Chinese chips will power it, and everyone will put down their phones and life will be like a walk in the park. It’s a New Journey in the New Era, a journey powered by Xi. China has you, and the planet, covered.
The Chinese style internet is not just for Chinese. Foreigners, too!!!

Xi talk is the talk of the town.
“A good journalist tells good stories”
This is an exciting development. It’s as if the stodgy narrative journalism program at the Nieman Foundation at Harvard finally got some traction in China.
Only they forgot to tell them the stories are supposed to be true.
When it comes to coverage of Xi’s China, CCTV is too good to be true.
And if it serves Xi and the party, a little lie goes a long, long way.
(Putin chastised TASS for covering the Wagner revolt, reminding them that good journalism means serving the needs of the regime, something that Xi strictly demands of CCTV and other state media.)
What a good story! The hand gestures really add emphasis to the New Era truths.
To see good journalists in action, tune in to the full program tonight. For now, just a sneak preview. It looks really good, especially the piece about the lovable, gun-toting revolutionary fighter. Having the minorities dance for the camera is also a nice touch!
Foreign news is again dominated by “the conflict” with the usual mix of Israeli footage, Hamas footage, CCTV footage and wire service shots of devastation in Gaza.
